Barbara has worked in the U.S. and global consulting service for more than 75 varied clients, including Fortune 500 corporations, educational and health care institutions, professional services organizations, government and nonprofit agencies. She had a 20-year tenure at Steelcase, Inc., where she led senior leadership teams through culture transition initiatives resulting from unprecedented economic decline, including a global culture analysis involving 14,000 employees.
She is currently President of Real-Time Perspectives, a consulting practice focused on organisational effectiveness in the areas of executive coaching, leadership team development, strategic planning, organisational culture assessment and transition management, performance management systems, nonprofit board capacity development.
Barbara is also one of a select group of individuals certified to teach the Immunity to Change™ coaching process, alongside its authors, Dr. Robert Kegan and Dr. Lisa Lahey of Minds at Work (Cambridge, Massachusetts).This research-based approach, grounded in Kegan’s theory on stages of adult development, helps individuals and teams overcome previously unrecognized obstacles that hinder their ability to achieve professional or personal goals.
Additional certifications include several 360° leadership assessments offered through The Leadership Circle, the most prevalent of which is The Leadership Circle Profile™. For clients interested Emotional Intelligence, she is certified by the Hay Group to administer the Emotional Competency Inventory™.
Barbara earned a B.A. in American Studies from Douglass College (part of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey) and a M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University (Boston, Massachusetts). She has served as a guest lecturer on: Adult Development Theory and Overcoming Immunity to Change at University College Cork, Graduate Program in Business Economics (Cork, Ireland) and Organizational Culture at Western Michigan University, Graduate School of Education (Grand Rapids, Michigan).
